Description
- The Exobrain project aimed to develop a Korean AI system, named “Exobrain.” The term “Exobrain” refers to an artificial brain outside of the human body. The project spanned 10 years and was carried out in three phases over about ten years. The project involved collaboration between different organizations: ETRI, Saltlux, and KAIST. This national project developed several world-class Korean AI technologies, including (1) deep QA technology for finding answers to natural language questions, (2) Korean language analysis technology for enabling better understanding of Korean text, (3) language model-based applications for leveraging deep learning models for various usage, and (4) knowledge-based reasoning technology for enhancing reasoning capabilities. Our Lab’s role in this project involved (1) extraction of temporal information from natural language Korean text, and (2) paraphrasing and entailment of sentences to diversify given questions.
